Localizer supports

The correct vertical angle of landing enables a precise approach to an airport. Together with glidepath towers, localizer systems (also known as landing-course transmitters) provide the pilots with all important information for a safe and clean touchdown.

 

Maximum passive safety is assured here. To protect aircraft and passengers in case of a collision, Europoles offers a localizer system made of fiberglass-reinforced plastics. This material is especially stable and stiff, but it snaps off in case of impact and thereby minimizes any possible accident consequences.

Crash-Test

The materials used in our localizer systems prevent reflection and interference with radar or radio operation. Even the strongest winds produce only slight deflection. An additional plus: localizer systems by Europoles need very little maintenance. The lightweight structure itself is design with single segments to present minimum hazard to aircraft. Simple height compensation: in cases of extreme slopes in the terrain after the runway, localizer antennas are mounted on FRP stilts, which also provide a gangway.

 

By the way: our FRP support systems for airports satisfy the frangibility requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This quality characteristic has been tested and certified by the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR).
