| Producer of masts and towers acquires a prominent company and sets up its own surface technology business |
 |
Neumarkt and Werl, Germany – The European market-leader for masts and towers has expanded its portfolio of goods and services by addition of surface-treatment technology. The new company Eurocoatings has taken over the entire business of Merckx Oberflächentechnik, in Werl, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and thereby becomes the leading surface-technology company for steel masts in Europe. Klaus Merckx, founder and owner of the company Merckx Oberflächentechnik, has committed himself to a long-term agreement with Europoles, and will continue to be responsible for operative management of the company in Werl. He will furthermore support and head the development of the business unit Surface Technology. All staff in Werl will continue to be employed, and look ahead very confidently to a future under the roof of Eurocoatings.
Europoles’ CEO Hendrik Schulz, who will also take charge of the management of Eurocoatings, considers this transaction to be an absolutely harmonious, strategic expansion of Europoles: especially since the Merckx company, with its definite commitment to quality, reliability, service, and innovation, smoothly fits into the philosophy of Europoles. The influence of Europoles on the entire value-added chain of the end product has hereby grown appreciably, and opens up new avenues to the development of innovative design surface treatment, considerably enhanced corrosion protection in conjunction with new welding technologies, and resource-saving production processes.
