Europoles, the manufacturer of poles, masts, and towers, with headquarters in Neumarkt, Germany, is building a new production plant for spun-concrete poles and masts in Oman. This signifies that the company is entering the market for power-transmission towers and infrastructure on the Arabian peninsula. Europoles, a company with a long tradition of working from its home region in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria, has more than 110 years of experience in the production of poles and masts. For its work in Oman, it has founded a joint venture with the company Rukun al Yaqeen for a production complex in Nizwa, the former capital of Oman. The plan will offer annual production capacity of up to 10,000 concrete poles and masts. Europoles holds the majority of interest in the joint venture, and will also appoint the Managing Director.
In summarizing the importance of this decision, Europoles’ CEO Fritz Fückert said, “This step will open us the way to one of the largest growth markets of our time. After acquiring the Swiss company Nivatec one year ago, with its strong market position in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, setting up our own production plant represents the next logical step on our way to a leading position in the Middle-East region. With the company Rukun Al Yaqeen we have gained a partner that is not only the outstanding provider in the field of overhead transmission lines, but furthermore has access to an outstanding network in the Oman market.”
A production location in Nizwa furthermore offers outstanding transport connections to the metropolis of Muscat in Oman, to the interior of the country, and to the boom region including Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Until now, over 1000 spun-concrete masts produced in Neumarkt have already been delivered by cargo ship and railway to Oman. As a result of much shorter and simpler transport means, local production in Oman offers Europoles enormous additional potentials for savings.
