Europoles supports single mothers

[Sep 22, 2010]

Europoles is giving the proceeds of its summer festival to the BELA project of the Bürgerhaus [Civic House] in Neumarkt. The BELA project aims to help young single mothers re-enter professional life.

This 2000 euro donation is just a beginning. In addition to any financial surplus, Europoles plans to make further active contributions to the project in the coming year.

Combining family and professional life as a corporate goal
Around 800 euros of donations were collected at the Europoles staff's summer festival this year. The proceeds were topped up by the company to a total of 2000 euros. This sum will make it possible for BELA to offer a new training course for young mothers. In 2011 Europoles will also be offering a training position in Neumarkt specially designed for single parents.

About the BELA project
The BELA project aims to give young mothers and single parents equality of opportunity on the job market. Completing a course of professional development is the essential basis for ensuring the individual a self-sufficient means of existence. The birth of a child - above all if it occurs at the transition between school and starting work - still represents a major hurdle today. BELA facilitates part-time professional training, so making it possible for single parents to combine family commitments with a career. Support is given to young mothers who are interested in embarking on professional training but have not yet started a training course, or have had to leave off to give birth to a child.

Those taking part attend a 12-week seminar, during which they work out strategies and define skills with a view to new professional perspectives. The actual training then takes place in partnership with institutions and companies from the Neumarkt region. This also benefits the companies, who can thus acquire carefully selected, well prepared and highly motivated applicants. The project organizers are consulted on the best way of integrating them with the business. In case of need, skilled advisors will support the company in the training process.
